Put your review code on your receipts
This is the version that works, because it needs nobody to remember anything. Every customer who pays gets asked, forever, and you set it once.
Only the boxed part is new. It prints after the money.
Find your till
Pick the one you use. The first thing to know is whether yours can print the code as a picture or only as words, because that changes what you do.
The words to print
Short is better. People read a receipt for about two seconds. Pick one and send it to us, or use ours.
Before you change anything
- Do it before you open. Not because it is risky, but because if the printer needs restarting you do not want that at 7pm on a Friday.
- Print one test receipt and look at it. Check the total is right and, if you added a code, that your own phone can scan it. That is the whole safety check.
- Check the paper. A printed code adds roughly an inch to every receipt. On a busy week that is a bit more roll. Worth knowing, not worth worrying about.
Questions
Will this change my prices, tax or tips?
No. Nothing in the footer can. It is printed after the totals are calculated, and the setting has no access to them. If you want to be certain, print one test receipt and compare the total to what you expected. It will match.
Will you log into my till and do it?
No, and we will not ask. Your till holds your sales and your card data, and we have no business in there. You make the change, or your till's own support does it with you on a two-minute chat. We write out what to click.
My till is not on your list.
Tell us which one and we will look up the steps. If you would rather not wait, message your till's support with this one sentence: "How do I add a custom message to the bottom of my printed customer receipts, and can it include a QR code image?" Send us their answer and we will do the rest.
My till can only print words, not the code. Is it worth doing?
Partly. A written-out link is much weaker than a code, because somebody has to type it. Do it anyway, since it costs nothing, but put the printed code where they are already looking: a small card by the register or a sticker on the card reader. That is the one that will actually get scanned.
Does this replace the printed card?
It replaces the need for one, if your till prints the code. If it does not, the card is doing the real work and the receipt line is just a reminder.
Can I change the wording later?
Any time, and it costs nothing. If the reviews are not coming, the wording is the cheapest thing to try first. We will tell you what the count is doing each month.
Stuck at any point?
Send us a photo of the screen you are on. We will tell you exactly what to tap.
