Your Google listing

What a diner actually sees

Almost nobody types your website address. They search your name, and this is where they land. Flip the switch and see what changes on it.

Most listings look like this. Nothing here is broken, it is just nobody's job.

This is the list that opens. It is the part of your listing that quietly costs you money, and the part almost no owner has ever looked at.

"No fee" does not mean free for you

It means the diner pays no extra fee. You still pay.

The app keeps a cut of every order it passes you. Roughly 6% to 15% of the bill on a pickup order, and a good deal more on a delivery one.

On a $40 delivery order, the app can take $10. Your profit on that order was about $1.60 to start with. So the order made you close to nothing.

That is a fair price for a stranger who had never heard of you. It is a bad one for a regular who searched your name, because they had already found you. Do the sum with your own numbers →

Rough figures for comparison, not a quote. Three to five percent is the commonly cited profit margin for an independent restaurant, and 25% is DoorDash's published Plus rate. Check your own agreement.

And the honest part

Picking your name costs the diner one extra tap

They choose their food the same way. The last step is different: instead of paying inside an app, they press send on a text that is already written, and pay when they pick it up.

That one tap is also why there is no card machine, no card fee, no chargeback six weeks later and no commission. And the message arrives from their real number, which is what tells you the order is real.

What we keep up on it

A reply under every review

Written in your words, and anything negative waits for your OK before it goes anywhere near your listing. It shows as Response from the owner, in your restaurant's name, never ours.

Your own ordering link in that list

Google lets you add it free, and mark it the one you would rather they used. If you have no website we host the page for you, so the link works from day one.

Posts, so it is not three years old

Offers and news on the listing itself, where somebody is already looking you up. Every one checked against the rules Google rejects on before it reaches you.

Hours that are actually right

Including the week you shut in September. A listing that says Open when the door is locked is the one-star you did not need to earn.

One thing we will not tell you: that any of this moves your rating or your position in search. Nobody can promise that. What it changes is what a stranger finds when they get there.
